How Rewards Work

You Stay Anonymous, Even to Collect

When you submit a tip, the system automatically assigns you a unique anonymous code number. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe — it is the only thing that connects you to your tip, and it is never linked to your name, phone number, or any personal information.

If your tip leads to an arrest and a reward is approved, simply call us at (222) 333-4444 and provide your code number. From there, reward payment is handled through a neutral third party, typically an attorney or designated board member who acts as an intermediary. That person facilitates the payout without ever knowing your identity. You deal only with your code number. They deal only with the cash. The two are never connected to a name.

This process has been used by Crime Stoppers programs across the country for decades. It was specifically designed to make reward collection as anonymous as submitting the tip itself because a promise of anonymity that only holds until reward time is not a promise at all.

Three things to remember:

  1. Write down your code number the moment your tip is submitted
  2. Do not share your code number with anyone
  3. Call back with your code number to claim the reward (if one is available)
